Magic Everywhere

One of the questions I get asked a lot is “Where do you find inspiration?”, and the answer is surprisingly banal: “Everywhere!”. To me, inspiration comes from the little things, things that are very much a part of my life, things that we might overlook when we are too busy chasing to-do lists or working off our inbox. I always feel most inspired when I have time to wind down, to clean the apartment (clean space, clear mind) or, of course, when I am traveling. Who doesn’t feel inspired by the sight of the sun setting over the ocean or a palm-tree-lined horizon?

However, we don’t have to go far to find inspiration. Even after 10 years of living in Vienna, there are still so many hidden gems to be discovered. One of those is the Palmenhaus in Schönbrunn. Tropical plants in abundance and the most beautiful glasshouse I have ever laid eyes upon, tucked away in the imperial gardens of Schönbrunn Palace. Definitely worth adding to the list of sights to see when you visit Vienna!

Made in Vienna: On a sunny day, Vienna itself is pure inspiration. I don’t think I would ever get sick of it’s beauty, which is probably also the reason that it is home to a lot of art and distinctive jewellery brands like FREYWILLE. The company has created their pieces around motifs from artists of the 19th and 20th century, especially Austrian painters in several of their collections. Among them Gustav Klimt. Aside from the fact that I am in love with their monochrome bordered bangles, the new Van Gogh L’amandier (almond blossom) collection adds the perfect pop of color to a summery all-white look. With the early arrival of Summer this year, I feel like I have been living in hues of white lately, resorting to accessories to add to the look.

  • OUTFIT: undecided.

Usually, when I buy a bag, there is this whole process involved. Months of stalking Pinterest for inspiration, placing it in my shopping basket over and over again just to sleep on it one more night and of course secretly planning outfits to go with the bag in my head. By the time I actually…

As Christmas is getting closer and closer, I find myself incorporating a hint of the festive spirit into my outfits. • OUTFIT: a winter walk

It is funny how you take things for granted when you always have them. When I used to live at home with my parents in Zell am See, I barely even noticed the gorgeous surroundings and mountains around us. Now, that I’ve lived in Vienna for more than 6 years, it feels like vacation to…

  • OUTFIT: an urban brunch

If someone had suggested wearing a total white look to me last year, I would have kindly declined. White is a color that tends to intimidate me, mostly for the fear of pouring a big cup of coffee all over myself. However, in the meantime I have realized that covering yourself in coffee looks bad…
