VIENNA: albertina passage

For the past 6 years Mike and I have kind of stayed away from the usual Valentine’s Day celebrations – mostly because my birthday is always the next day, which involves plenty of festivities anyway. But this year Mike decided to surprise me with a romantic dinner at Albertina Passage the night before ♥-day. Even though I had heard some negative things (mostly concerning the service) prior to our visit, I must say everything was absolutely perfect last night! Our waiter was super friendly, very attentive and knew his stuff – we asked for his wine recommendations and were very happy with his choices. The food was incredibly yummy (I usually hate lamb but Mike’s main course even had me convinced!) and not to mention the live music!! Maybe we were just lucky, or maybe the fairly new restaurant simply needed a bit of time to get everything sorted out. But we certainly loved it, and I would definitely recommend the Albertina Passage for special dates or delicious drinks in a cool location!

It looks so snowy in Vienna! That place looks gorgeous – but wow, 4am! Is it normal that places like that stay open so late?!

      Hi Maya,

it is super snowy here in Vienna right now 🙁 Kind of want spring right about now!!

And yess, 4am is totally normal. Most clubs are actually open ’til 6am. People here don’t really start going out until 1 or 2am.

Which is such a bad habit btw – the going out so late. Why not start the night at 9/10 pm, party for 4-5 hours, head to bead, have a good night’s sleep and actually use the day after? I never got that whole system we have in Germany (and apparently Austria as well) 🙁 Thankfully Denmark starts a bit more early and closes up most parties between 2-3 am the latest 🙂

        Love, S.

I’m with you in terms of getting a good night sleep – but I actually really like going out late! I love that about southern european culture 🙂 Something I missed dearly in L.A., when I was doing my internship there.
