RECIPE: Acai Bowl in Vienna | Bikinis & Passports

RECIPE: acaí bowl

Anything and everything cool or new usually takes a while to make an appearance in Vienna. While I had my first acaí bowl in California years ago and even got lucky in Berlin and Munich last year, I have yet to find one in Vienna. No big deal, I thought, if they don’t offer it, I’ll just make my own. Well, easier said than done. It is fairly easy to find acaí powder, but I wanted the frozen pack for the real deal. Today I finally got lucky at an organic grocery store on Margaretenstraße in my neighborhood. Making your own acaí bowl is actually super easy and I simply added some coconut water, fresh banana and ice cubes to the blender. Et voila! With only about 67 kcal per 100gr of frozen acaí (= 1 pack), it is a super healthy way to start your day and actually keeps you full for a while! Even though I am still hoping to find a great acaí bowl in Vienna sooner rather than later (recommendations welcome!), I know what I’ll be having for breakfast for the rest of the week…

What you’ll need:
– 1 pack of frozen acaí
– 150 ml coconut water
– 1 banana
– ice cubes (if desired)
– toppings: goji berries, chia seeds, granola, fresh fruit, coconut shavings …

Toss the frozen acaí into the blender with the coconut water, banana and ice cubes. Blend on high until smooth. Pour into a bowl and serve with desired toppings. Enjoy!

PS. Looking for frozen acaí in Vienna? I can recommend the Denn’s Bio Supermarkt, which is where I got mine.

  4. Acai Bowls sind was Tolles, yummy! Ich wohne zwar nicht in Österreich, aber vielleicht habe ich ja Glück und in unserem Denn’s gibt’s das auch …

  5. It have made me so happy seeing you taking a bit more of a vegan turn (on snapchat too)! I have integrated more of a plant based diet over a year and a half ago – though I do eat fish and cheese occasionally – and it definitely made me feeling so much heathier and happier about my body; also my skin has never looked better (I have eczema, too). Look forward to seeing new recipes.

    1. Ohh thank you so much for the super sweet comment!

In all honesty, I don’t think I would ever be fully vegan, but a healthy diet is so important to me and just like you, I have noticed that I feel great when I eat more plant-based. Plus, my skin is also looking the best it ever has – so maybe that all plays a part. Happy to hear you skin is also looking great as a fellow eczema patient!
