OUTFIT: Chic by Choice
Weddings are always a perfect reason to get dressed up in a new dress and some heels. Theoretically. Slowly, however, I feel like I am getting to an age where lots of our friends are getting married, which means lots of new dresses. Most of which I will probably only wear once. So when we headed to Zurich this past weekend to see my oldest kindergarten friend say “Yes!”, I decided to go with a slightly different concept: A new dress, but just for the day.
Recently I was introduced to Chic by Choice with a concept that lets you hire designer dresses. Marchesa Notta, Valentino, Hervé Léger, Tibi … it is all there.
About a week before the wedding, my sister helped me go through all of the dresses for wedding guests. Together we choose a black and blue lace option as my first choice, which I ordered in two different sizes – just to be sure. They arrived on Thursday before noon, giving me just enough time to plan the entire look before take-off on Friday. Since the dress was such a key-piece itself with the pretty lace and color combination, I wanted to keep my accessories elegant but simple in hues of gold and nude.
Honestly, not only once was I approached at the wedding because of my dress and I felt pretty fancy in a 700€ dress, which cost me less than 100€. Do you guys have any experience with a designer dress hire? I think I’ll definitely do it again – especially as a wedding guest or for a fancy ball it would totally pay off. You can get Valentino dresses worth over 2.000€ for less than 10% of the price … ♥

Such a nice Idea, I know the concept from another business where you can rent designer bags, I think it’s a great alternative when you don’t want to spend an arm for just a night! This dress is gorgeous!

Die Idee dahinter is ja ganz nett, aber Geld ausgeben für ein Kleid welches ich einmal trage ist Geld in die Mülltonne. Um die ~120€ für die Leihgabe eines Kleids, mach ich das 3 mal kann ich mir schon ein nettes Designerkleidchen kaufen.
Für “Einmal Occasions” haben Zara, Mango & Co auch nette Optionen, billiger als die Leihgabe und das Kleid darf ich dann sogar behalten 😉

kommt drauf an wie man es sieht. Ich finde selbst bei Zara & Co. sind es für schöne Kleider schnell mal 79€ oder sogar 99€. Ich persönlich finde es toller um diesen Preis für einen besonderen Anlass ein ganz besonderes Kleid zu haben und die “Wegwerfmode” nicht noch extra zu fördern, sondern es dann eben nach 4 Tagen zu retournieren 🙂 Ehrlicherweise hätte ich nie knapp 700€ für ein Kleid für eine Hochzeit (also als Gast) ausgegeben, doch 98€ hätte ich bestimmt auch für eine andere Option bezahlt. So hatte ich ein tolles Outfit und hab jetzt trotzdem noch Platz im Kleiderschrank 🙂

At first I was inclined to be rather dismissive of this dress hire service – as has been pointed out, for a little more than the hire price you can buy some very beautiful dresses and they are yours to keep. However, I have a lot of dresses like that and for the most part they hang in my wardrobe unused. I rarely want to wear them to events back to back, and within a year or two I am not as keen on the style as I once was (sometimes what I think is classic and will last years actually dates rather quickly)… So I think it really depends how often you think you’ll wear the dress – for very special events, or very high fashion pieces, I can absolutely see that dress hire would be better value for me. And hopefully at that price point, the clothes have been sustainably and ethically produced…
Das Kleid steht Dir super!
In D gibt es dresscoded.com die haben sogar einen Showroom in München, in dem man die Kleider vorher anprobieren kann. Ich finde das Konzept sehr gut, da ich mittlerweile einige Abendkleider im Schrank hängen habe, die ich einfach nur 1-2 Mal an hatte und dafür oft mehrere hundert Euro ausgegeben habe.
Oh ich finde die Idee wirklich Klasse. Ich persönlich bin auch jemand der so ausgefallene Kleider nur einmal anziehen würde – wieso sollte ich da dann mehrere hundert Euro für ein Kleid ausgeben, dass am Ende nur im Schrank rumhängt un dort nett aussieht. Lieber einmal ausleihen und danach zurück schicken. Die Erinnerungen an das tolle Kleid hat man ja sowieso auf Fotos.
Ich finde übrigens, dass dein Kleid einfach wundervoll aussieht. Du hast definitiv die richtige Wahl getroffen – super hübsch 🙂

Eine ganz tolle Idee, oft ist es ja wirklich so, wenn man zu einem Anlass schnell etwas nettes benötigt und dann noch für ein Designerkleid so viel Geld hinblättert, ist diese Option wirklich großartig! Dein Kleid liebe Vicky ist traumhaft!

Ich finde die Idee hinter dem Kleid super. Ein besonderer Anlass erfordert ein besonderes Kleidungsstück und so etwas macht man ja auch nicht jeden Tag.
Das Blau passt hervorragend zu deinen Augen und die Ohrringe sind to die for.
