One thing, that you simply can not skip when in Abu Dhabi, is a visit to the Grand Sheikh Zayed Mosque. It is beyond anything I have ever seen, and even our second visit was just as impressive. The white and blue, paired with the palm trees, golden accents and stunning mosaic – soo beautiful!       thanks so much – very sweet of you! However, the “abaya” is the traditional clothing that you have to rent in order to view the mosque! So all the credit goes to the religion 🙂

  2. Wie ist es Dir eigentlich damit gegangen, in so einem Kleidungsstück, das für Verhüllung und Fremdbestimmung steht für kurze Zeit herumzulaufen? Ich versteh schon, dass man sich den örtlichen Begebenheiten anpasst, in asiatischen Tempeln bekommt man ja bspw. auch Überziehkleidung wenn man zu freizügig herumläuft – aber eine Abaya/Burka/Ganzkörperverhüllung ist ja doch nochmal ein anderes Thema.

      wir waren ja schon das 2. Mal dort und ich wusste, dass das dort so abläuft. Ich persönlich finde das gar nicht schlimm – im Gegenteil, ich finde es toll, dass einem die Möglichkeit gegeben wird sich die Moschee anzuschauen. Im Vatikan müssen Frauen ja auch Beine und Arme bedeckt halten 🙂 Die Moschee hat ja in erster Linie religiöse Ursprünge und wurde nicht für die Touristen gebaut.

  3. Wunderschöne Bilder! Mein Freund und ich möchten auch unbedingt mal nach Abu Dhabi! Wieviel Zeit sollte man deiner Meinung nach für den Besuch der Moschee einplanen? Lieber einen ganzen Tag oder reichen ein paar Stunden um alles zu sehen?

    1. Liebe Sarina,

      einen ganzen Tag braucht ihr auf keinen Fall. Ich würde aber mindestens 2 Stunden einplanen. Es gibt anscheinend auch gratis Audioguides in allen möglichen Sprachen, die haben wir allerdings noch nie probiert.
