my best friend’s wedding

My best friend is getting married in August. And next to my own wedding one day, this will probably be the most important wedding I will ever be a part of. Aside from helping her plan the big day, getting 12 girls together for a very special bachelorette party and getting to stand by her side when she says “I do”, there is also that never-ending search for the perfect dress. She found hers back in December. One of the first ones she tried on and it was pure perfection. And I finally found mine a few weeks ago.

There will be a civil wedding a week prior to the big event, for which I just found a super pretty dress here in L.A. at Reformation (a sustainable label that is super stylish, by the way). But what will I wear on the big day?

At first I thought I wouldn’t show you guys until the actual day of the wedding. However, then I realized I am not the bride (actually, I knew that before) and that some of you may still be on the lookout for great maid of honor or bridesmaid dresses. In our case, there are 2 “maids of honor” (not really what we call them in Europe) and no bridesmaids. We are not wearing the same dress and were completely free in what we wanted to wear. Kathi’s only wish was something in light summer and pastel colors.

The entire time, I had my eyes on a stunning Zimmermann dress, but unfortunately those don’t come cheap. When Net-A-Porter then had a 3-day discount of 25% a few weeks back, I finally hit order. I could always return it, right?

In all honesty, I did not expect it to be that great. I didn’t expect it to be as beautiful and flowy in real life as on the pictures. I didn’t expect it to fit me the way it did with the model and I wasn’t sure if the color would look good on me. But then I put it on and that’s the end of the story… I could not be happier with this dress. It looks great with my favorite heels, it is a light summer pastel and it will look perfect next to her dress. I can’t wait to show you pictures of the actual outfit in August. But until then, it is tucked away in a garment bag waiting for the big day.

Zimmermann One-Shoulder Dress: You cannot imagine how soft the sueded silk fabric of this dress is. I love the way it is long on one side and super flowy, plus the light lavender color is pure perfection for a Summer wedding. Generally speaking, I think that Zimmermann currently has a ton of options that make for great bridesmaid dresses.

Zac Posen Embellished Clutch: Since neither the dress nor the shoes have a pattern or any embellishment, I thought this clutch would be a fun touch. Plus, my closet lacks a light-colored clutch and I think this one is such an eye-catcher. Can also imagine it looking great with an all-black look for a night out.

ANNA I.J. Single Earring: With a one-shoulder dress, I feel like jewellery is not always and easy task. A necklace usually takes away from the one-shoulder cut, statement earrings can be too much and no jewellery also seems too little. I love the idea of this single earring and possible a delicate sparkly bangle to go with the look. What do you girls think?

Aquazzura Alix Heels: I hope you aren’t sick of seeing these heels all the time, but they are by far my favorite heels. The blush pink color is the ultimate neutral and goes with almost everything and the shape absolutely timeless. Plus, the block-heel makes them (almost) comfortable. I have already tried them on with the dress and will be wearing these for sure on the wedding day!
