CRAVINGS: holiday trend velvet | Bikinis & Passports

CRAVINGS: velvet dreams.

As the festive time of the year is approaching, I think it is safe to say that velvet is a major trend of the season. The fabric presents a perfect mix of elegance and weather-appropriate features. Especially colors like dark red, gray and black are so great for the holiday season and will instantly add a special twist to your look. For everyone that is not too sure about the trend yet, I would recommend starting with bags and shoes – just a little hint of velvet. Ever since I first spotted that Gucci bag back in July (which unfortunately never made it’s way into my closet due to terrible customer service), I have been loving the look. Even though my Saint Laurent bag is suede and not velvet, I do feel like it is a great alternative. I also purchased an embellished velvet blazer during Summer (seen here) and am pretty sure I’ll get a ton of use out of it for Christmas parties and NYE celebrations. Today, a great pair of booties or slippers and possibly a dress are on my velvet wishlist.

Missguided ankle boots: While Summer is all about those breezy light colors, the colder season has me drawn to a palette that includes pretty grays, gorgeous emerald and darker reds. Also, I feel like these would be comfortable to walk in – a great heel version for Fall and Winter.

Urban Outfitters body suit: Can you just imagine this body suit layered with a silk camisole and a simple pair of skinny jeans? So chic!

Madewell velvet jumpsuit: I feel like palazzo pants or a nice jumpsuit can be just as suitable for fancier events. So why not skip the dress for once and go for a pretty velvet jumpsuit instead?

Saint Laurent bag: This was actually a really close call to the Saint Laurent bag I got, but in the end I decided that red would be a better, more unexpected addition to my wardrobe. Nonetheless, a black velvet bag will probably never go out of style. By the way, if you love my red bag, this is an affordable and similar version.

Michael Kors embellished slippers: I kind of wish Winter didn’t include snow and cold temperatures, so these slippers would actually be wearable. Still, they are so pretty and maybe a warm Winter destination or indoor event would be a good excuse to splurge on these.
