TRAVELS: exploring the Mayan ruins in Tulum

During the week we spent in Mexico (we stayed in Playa del Carmen), we also managed to take a trip to Tulum, a Pre-Columbian Maya walled city which served as a major port for Cobá. Originally, when we decided to visit Mexico, we wanted to go to Tulum, a place that is known for the Mayan ruins and stunning beaches! However, when we started researching hotels in September, we quickly noticed that EVERY SINGLE hotel was already completely booked over New Years. None-the-less, I still really wanted to visit the city, and so we decided to book a tour there. Formerly, Tulum was known under the name Zama, which means “City of Dawn” because of its amazing location right on the cliffs above the coast where you can see the sun rise. Even though it was a cloudy and rainy day, the water still had the most unreal color and everything else was also absolutely beautiful, I can only imagine how gorgeous it must be on a sunny day! I think if and when we make it back to Mexico, we will definitely be staying in Tulum – it was love at first sight ♥

Who else is as excited as I am about the fact that the current weather doesn’t require jackets anymore? Even though I’ve been battling a sore throat (and now lack of voice) for the past week, I am so happy about the arrival of Spring. No jackets, no socks, sunnies all day – sounds like a…

  • VIENNA: ra’mien go

I just recently heard about ra’mien go opening at two locations in Vienna. It is part of the Ra’mien group, just like Shanghai Tan (a restaurant I absolutely LOVE) and serves delicious thai/asian food in big portions! So on Monday I decided to grab lunch to-go from their Wien Mitte location. Once I got there…

  • OUTFIT: charlie is back.

On Sundays we have a ritual of sleeping in super late, then grabbing a coffee and breakfast muffin somewhere in the city. I like actually getting dressed on Sundays and leaving the apartment to wander the city for a bit. Today is one of the first real cold November days, so it was time to take “charlie”,…

  • Montauk’d

Well, it looks like someone took a little vacation. That someone being me (no new post in 12 days, say what?!) and the vacation being NYC, The Hamptons + Montauk, followed by a bachelorette weekend in Amsterdam. Lots of play, some work (daily posts over on The Daily Dose – as the name would suggest) and a…

  • OUTFIT: it was all a dream

One of the perks of self-employment is definitely the freedom to dress as I like for the office. I was lucky to work in a casual environment before going full-time with my blog, so I have never had to obey any strict dresscodes or rules. However, there are a few key pieces that can make…

    1. Hi Debbie,

      Vicky
