OUTFIT: le jardin majorelle.

The Jardin Majorelle is one of the most visited sights in Marrakech, but during my first two visits to Morocco I never made it to the famous garden in the heart of the “Ochre City” (= red city, nickname for Marrakech), but this time around it was our first stop.

Jacques Majorelle spent 40 years of his life creating an enchanting place of greens in the middle of the city. The garden covers nearly two and a half acres with collections of cacti, exotic plants and trees, as well as vibrant colors – most prominently the famous majorelle blue that coats the art deco building.

A lot of you may have heard of the Jardin Majorelle in Marrakech as the Yves Saint Laurent garden. Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé discovered the Jardin Majorelle in 1966, during their first stay in Marrakech and quickly fell in love, visiting the garden every day. Then in 1980, the Jardin Majorelle was for sale, and guess who bought it and saved it from falling victim to a real estate project and becoming a hotel complex? The couple lived in the Villa Bou Saf Saf (the blue building in the middle of the garden) and if any of you have ever watched the documentary about Yves Saint Laurent, you have probably seen what a special place of refuge and creativity it was for him.

Travel Tip: The garden is beautiful and definitely worth a visit (70 dh entry = 7€), but it won’t take more than 30 minutes to stroll around. However, the garden also hosts the Café Majorelle, so you can combine the visit with an outdoor lunch like we did, making it more of a 2-hour affair. Salads go for around 10€ and mint tea is 2€.

  4. The Jardin Majorelle is already on my bucket list for so long, really want to see it! Thank you for the travel tip 🙂
Really liking your outfit, especially the lace blouse. I love the contrast with the ripped jeans. Oh and you should wear your hair more up, you have such a beautiful bone structure!
PS : any tips & tricks for getting such a simple but beautiful bun without any bumps in your hair? I hate those!
