FOR THE HOME: outdoor happenings
Right after returning from our dreamy vacation, Mike and I decided finally tackle our “outdoor project”. We’ve been meaning to add a few things to our rooftop deck this past year, in order to turn it into our own little tropical paradise. Well, off to the garden center we were – without a clue about gardening and the likes … boy, that was one exhausting afternoon!! We felt so lost and had no idea what plants would work with the weather conditions in Vienna, but after about 2 hours we finally ended up deciding on 2 palm trees, roses (obviously my choice) and some cool grasses to sway in the wind. Along with that we have a little fire place, Mike ordered an amazing outdoor shower, we finally had our outdoor sound system installed & last weekend I got the cutest watering can! There still is a bit of work to be done (ie. figuring out a shade solution, as the wind is simply too strong up there for an umbrella) but it is starting to feel real cozy up there and I wanted to share a few first impressions. More to come later this summer, I promise!

Ja, ein Sonnensegel hätte ich soo gerne! Aber da haben wir leider auch Bedenken, dass der Wind zu stark drunter fährt. Und ein Sonnensegel mit Winddetektoren, das automatisch einfährt kostet leider ein halbes Vermögen 🙁 Aber unsere Nachbarn planen grad eine andere (ähnliche) Lösung, und wenn das bei ihnen klappt werden wir es wohl nachmachen 🙂

Wahnsinn, eure Terrasse ist wirklich ein Traum! Und der Weber-Grill… klasse! Ich versuche aus unserem kleinen Balkon auch das Maximum rauszuholen. Aber mit so einer Terrasse, hach… Freue mich auf weitere stimmungsvolle Bilder aus eurem Dachparadies!

We have a very similar Weber grill and I love it so much! It fits a lot, it works great, it looks sleek. Perfect! Hope you get to enjoy many, many great hours out there this summer!
That terrace looks mazing! Let’s hope this year Summer comes along and stays for a little while!

Habt ihr mal drüber nachgedacht so ein Sonnensegel anstatt eines Sonnenschirms zu benutzen? Ich hab das schon ganz oft gesehen und Bekannte von meinen Eltern gesehen und die waren/sind total zufrieden damit:). Ich hab das einfach mal bei Google eingegeben, da gibt es echt schöne Segel. Kannst du dir ja vllt mal anschauen:)

danke dir für den Tipp 🙂 Aber wie schon bereits bei einem Kommentar weiter oben erwähnt wäre das eh unsere Lieblings-Option … aber leider ist auch das mit dem Wind ziemlich kritisch, weil der da voll drunter fährt und es eventuell aus der Verankerung reist. Aber unsere Nachbarn lassen grad eine ähnliche Lösung anfertigen & wenn das bei denen klappt würden wir es nachmachen 🙂
