As I mentioned in the previous post, I was fortunate enough to attend “the fashion lunch” yesterday. The 120 square metre “ring suite” was the perfect atmosphere to view the 2 most recent collections of designer Maria Doychinova. As a student of some great artists, including Viktor&Rolf her collections are quite the master-pieces. Rarely is there a collection of big designers where I could acutally imagine myself wearing almost every piece. I adore her dresses. Simple yet so detailed and well-made. The lable Doychinoff stands for innovative fashion, high quality and is definitely something to keep an eye on.
I absolutely loved the stories behind each of the collections. The current collection “petroleum” is supposed to reflect on all the artificial materials used now-a-days, depending on petroleum for their production.
The collection “in comment” draws attention to the many political signs we wear on our clothing, many times without even knowing what they really stand for. Maria got the idea of this collection when she saw young people on the streets in Vienna, walking around with the anarchy symbol or SSSR printed on their shirts. All of the badges and pins or buttons are actual old national symbols, recreated by her.
A collection of impressions from yesterday, including some of my favorite pieces…
