Last week Mike surprised me with the idea of a spontaneous weekend get-away. We took off after work on Thursday and headed to the gorgeous Wörthersee in Carinthia. We stayed at the Schloss Hotel in Velden over Easter, but decided to try a different place on the lake this time. Those that have been reading my blog for over a year might recognize it – the Lake’s Hotel & Spa in Pörtschach. I was there for the Lake’s Fashion Days back in May of 2011 but wasn’t all that impressed – of course the location and hotel are gorgeous, however, the service and food were far from good and some of the rooms were still semi-under-construction.
Luckily I believe in 2nd chances (I always like the check out tripadvisor before booking hotels and the most recent reviews were seriously convincing!) and the hotel decided to go for a new chef & kitchen staff (meaning better food & nicer service) this season, which made our stay absolutely amazing!! The rooms are huuuge and decorated in a modern yet cozy maritim theme. And I don’t think I need to tell you anything about the amazing lakeside cabanas and views …
