it’s all in the mix.

Even though I have been slacking a bit with my workouts the past few weeks (simply could not get myself to go for a run with over 30°C at 7pm) I am back on track this week & even a bit excited about sweating again. I figured out a great new way to stay motivated and wanted to share it with you guys: the secret is all in the mix!!!

Even though I love running, it gets boring after a while, especially since I don’t have an abundance of different routes to run near our new apartment. And once workouts become boring it gets THAT much harder to stay motivated! So I have decided to run twice a week (already went for one run on Monday, so only one more to go) and incorporate 1-2 other workouts into my routine (1 day of strength training & 1 day of yoga). This way you always have a different type of workout to look forward too & it never gets dull!! And the best part, none of these workouts really require a gym or expensive equipment:

- all you need for running is a pair of good shoes & a great playlist on your iPod

- you’d be surprised how much weight training you can actually do with your own body weight or a simple pair of weights (thanks to Kathi I started getting into bodyrock.tv videos)

- my neighbors are incredibly cool & have private yoga lessons on their deck once a week – lucky me is invited :) but you can also find great videos on youtube and all you need is a yoga mat!

{yoga is on the menu tonight}

        ein freund von mir eröffnet in kürze ein neues shinergy zentrum mit ashtanga yoga nähe schönbrunn. da könnt ich auch was gutes mit vergünstigung rausholen. :) ich denke, wir sollten das auf jeden fall angehen. vielleicht kann ja was regelmäßiges draus werden. 1x im monat oder so. dann sind auch alle motivierter fürs workout! :)

    Ich war ja einmal in Yoga, fands super, hatte danach aber extreme Rückenschmerzen, sodass ich aufhören musste.. Vielleicht fange ich im Herbst mit Pilates an!
    Habe jetzt auch ca. 2 Wochen Sportpause gehabt, weil ich krank war, will aber unbedingt wieder was tun!

    So jealous of the yoga lessons. On the other hand I am just not the bendy one so yoga was never my thing (though I love the clothes, hehe). I also have been so slacking off with workouts lately as I have been so super busy. And I now even decided to quit the gym as I do not have the time to go and right now it is just a waste of money.
    As soon as the next semester starts (and I am somewhat back in a regular routine) I will definitely have to start on doing more sports again. At least 2-3 times a week. The boyfriend has to move abroad due to work for a while so excercising might be good distraction for the weekdays without him.

    Love, S.

  4. I love that idea! I had to have a surgery and had to stop working out for a year and now I’m just super motivated to start, but my strength is just down the drain =X I never tried yoga, but I used to do Pilates back when I was in Vienna and I LOVED it!!!

    Das beste Workout ist mein Guilt-Change-Workout. Immer wenn was nicht so astrein gelaufen ist, müssen 20 Minuten mehr gesteppt werden ;)

    This is 100% true! I mix it up between running, zumba, tennis matches, and weights; keeps me on my toes!

  10. I just startet with yoga and it´s damn hard! But I´ll keep on and I hope after a few lessons I get more flexible. Can you guys give advice for beginner-practice?
