formula uno

When I was little, Sundays consisted of watching Formula 1 with my 2 favorite men (brother and dad), sitting in the garage watching my dad work on his cars, going on weekend old-timer trips with him, … Naturally I wanted to get him something special for his 50th birthday. After lots of pondering I finally came across the perfect idea. I got him weekend-passes for the 2 of us to go to the Formula 1 Race in Monza, Italy. (2008)

I’m pretty sure my dad really liked the gift, but I am 100% sure I loved it even more. We left early friday morning, checked into our hotel and went straight to the race track. Through my dads work we got to go into the paddock, hangout with the drivers, go into the red bull racing box during qualifying, … the whole deal. (I even got to sit in the safety car, 560 hp)

on the track for the start of the ‘Porsche Supercup Support Event’.

We spent the entire weekend at the track, meeting great people, watching the different support-events and having a great time. At night we always picked a little local restaurant to have dinner. One on one time with my family is one of the things I treasure most in life. On sunday the weekend ended with the big race, and Sebastian Vettel’s first win. The atmosphere on the stands was overwhelming and the noise of the cars racing by went into the very depth of my bones. Goosebumps all the way!!

A great weekend I will certainly never forget and hopefully be able to repeat one day, maybe with my boyfriend’s company the next time around.

WOW! What a supercool present! :) My father was 50 last year and I got him a weekend in Berlin (where I lived at that time :).

I was on the Hungaroring a couple of years ago with my than boyfriend. One of our friend's father was the lawyer for the race so we got VIP tickets and could go into the pit too. What an experience! :) Nevertheless I do think you see much more on TV. The noise and speed makes it impossible to see who is who… :) XXX
