While Mike has been gone on a boys’ trip to Ibiza for the past 5 days, I took the opportunity to get a few things from my personal to-do list done, including a little table for dining up on the deck. We’ve had a lounge area for the past 2 years, which comes with a “coffee table”, but it was simply too unpractical for eating. For this summer, I actually want us to be able to sit down at a table for some al fresco dining. So as soon as the boys were gone I headed to IKEA the next day and found the perfect little (folding) table that sits 4 – or maybe 6 if we all cuddle – and can easily be folded away when we’d rather use the space for dancing, tanning, … I am beyond happy with the outcome and can’t wait for lots of amazing meals outdoors.
On Sunday we had an amazing style shoot for The Daily Dose (“Wedding Week” is coming up towards the end of June – wehoo) and afterwards there were some flowers left-over. Fiona of FlowerUp did the flowers for the shoot and let us each take some home after, which was incredibly sweet of her. Obviously she did an amazing job and I was left with a bunch of beautiful bloom in light citrus colors. A while ago I saw a pretty idea on Instagram and decided to give the d.i.y. flower bouquet in a cute cup a try. I am absolutely smitten with the way it turned out and hope it lasts all week. Ohh, the joy of fresh flowers!
Things are finally starting to feel like Summer around here and I cannot wait for our first outdoor girls night of the season! My sister and I spent the entire morning at the garden center yesterday, stocking up on palm trees, lavender and other fun stuff for our outdoor space, and the afternoon was devoted to planting the new purchases. I am so happy with the way the deck has come together – and with my new shorts! Ohh, Summer love ♥
When we decided to move into our new apartment 2 years ago, we also replaced most of our “student living” furniture (aka IKEA) and made a few investments, including our current bed. Admittedly, it did take a bit of persuasion on Mike’s part, because I simply didn’t get why anyone would spend the price of a Chanel jumbo flap (umm, dream bag …) on a bed and good matresses. In the end, though, I came to understand that resting our body is essential to everything else we do. So the bed it was! Fast forward 2 years and I couldn’t ever imagine not having our dreamy bed … while I used to love hotel beds, I now can’t wait to be back home to sleep in our little slice of heaven! For the finishing touch to our oasis we’re currently sleeping on the most luxurious Egyptian cotton bed linen ever by Evencki. A while ago I was gifted a set of their satin bedding in beautiful aqua blue and it is literally amazing. Even the box it came in was super nice and there was a lavender pillow inside! Evencki was founded in 2011 with a simple goal: to make bed linen beautiful again. You can even have custom measurements made! It is their passion to create elegant sheets that bring the bedroom to life. With our light blue airy blankets and pillows it most definitely feels like a bed of clouds!
