FOR THE HOME: time for an update

It’s nice to see your home come together over the years, and I truly love our little abode, but when you love decorating as much as I do, you also miss those first few weeks and months in a new place, where there was still so much to do. No more major changes to be made or furniture to be bought nowadays… That is, until we decided to upgrade our rug (I basically jumped of joy when Mike agreed to the plan). Don’t get me wrong, I loved that blue patterned beauty up until the last second, but over the past 2 years it had to endure a lot of sunlight and the color started to fade. Plus, I was ready for something a little more elegant. I must have forgotten how difficult it is to find nice rugs in Europe since my last purchase, because again, I found myself frustrated after a while. Luckily, however, I finally came across onloom.at a few weeks back and spotted this stunner by Michalsky Living within a few minutes! Literally: rug of my dreams and absolutely perfect for our living room! It is hard to put into words (or pictures for that matter) how amazingly soft it is, but let me just tell you that everyone who has ever touched it doesn’t want to leave our place anymore.

FOR THE HOME: a (coffee table) love affair

We’ve lived in our current apartment for over 2 years now, and every time I come home I still get excited and am thankful to be able to call it home. It is a home that Mike and I have created for ourselves and it is my happy place. It’s hard to say which is my favorite room or corner. Our rooftop deck is pure bliss during Summer, but when it is as rainy as this year, I spend most of my days in our living room. And let me just tell you, I have a serious love affair going on with our coffee table. Don’t ask me why, but it has always been “my baby” from the very beginning. It is never seen without fresh flowers and a few of my favorite items on display. I took these photos for a feature on The Daily Dose, but also wanted to share my little love affair with you!

FOR THE HOME: chinese garden stool

It’s been a while since I’ve updated things around the apartment, the main reason being that everything is basically furnished, so there is no room left for new items. Which is exactly why a chinese garden stool has been on my wishlist for over a year now. I first saw them somewhere on Pinterest and was immediately obsessed. Not the most useful item of furniture, but such a statement piece! Unfortunately, however, I never knew where to put it since there was simply no fitting space. Now, I am currently in the processes of re-doing our entry way in the hopes of creating more storage for shoes and jackets, which will clear up a little spot for the new stool for sure (at least that’s what I told Mike). Until then it is residing in our living room and I couldn’t be happier with the newest addition to our home! Happy Sunday

FOR THE HOME: al fresco dining

While Mike has been gone on a boys’ trip to Ibiza for the past 5 days, I took the opportunity to get a few things from my personal to-do list done, including a little table for dining up on the deck. We’ve had a lounge area for the past 2 years, which comes with a “coffee table”, but it was simply too unpractical for eating. For this summer, I actually want us to be able to sit down at a table for some al fresco dining. So as soon as the boys were gone I headed to IKEA the next day and found the perfect little (folding) table that sits 4 – or maybe 6 if we all cuddle – and can easily be folded away when we’d rather use the space for dancing, tanning, … I am beyond happy with the outcome and can’t wait for lots of amazing meals outdoors.
