BITS & PIECES: cars & ribs.

When Mike and I first moved to Vienna, we used to go home every other weekend or every three weeks max. Usually by train. Back then I always wished I had a car to drive instead, but as I am currently sitting in a train en route to Munich, I find it hard to believe that there was a time I took these train rides through the beautiful scenery here in the mountains for granted. Huge windows, comfy seats and time to catch up on blogposts (= me right now) or watch shows doesn’t seem all that bad now. This week, I feel like I was somewhere else every single day. Monday and Tuesday I got to wind down at Schloss Elmau Retreat, Wednesday I had a full to-do list in Vienna and I’ve been on the road since Thursday for all kinds of wonderful events, most of which involved cars.

Bits & Pieces: Cars & Ribs| Bikinis & Passports

After picking-up a super sporty RS3 by Audi to test-drive for the weekend (so much fun!), our first destination on Thursday was Kitzbühel for a night at the incredible Kitzhof (did you guys follow along on Snapchat?). Unfortunately we arrived so late that we literally only had 10 hours there. Such a bummer and we definitely have to come back. If you ever happen to stay there, ask for room 463 … so good!!
Then on Friday we were in for a real treat. Audi invited us to take part in their R8 driving experience for the Gerlospass Tour. 610 horse power, 0-100km/h in 3.2 seconds and curvy mountain roads put a huge smile on our faces. I’ve grown up around cars, mostly fast ones, all my life but this beast was definitely the most insane thing I have ever driven.
Still pumped with adrenalin from the drive, our next stop was Zell am See to visit my parents. My dad has spent the past year fulfilling his dream of a huge garage for all of his babies and a place for friends and car lovers to stop by and hang out. The official house-warming-party took place yesterday under the title “cars & ribs”. And that’s exactly what it was. Around 70 friends, lots of beautiful cars, the biggest BBQ I have ever seen, ribs for days and fun until 3am.
The last destination before I head back to Vienna tomorrow evening will be Munich for a lovely dinner and day with Westwing. We will get to take a peek at the new home decor trends for next year and since I plan on making a few changes in our apartment, I can’t wait for a bit of extra inspiration!
